About UCF
An exciting place to be

Our home, the Glassworks, was bought and refurbished by The Creative Foundation|, a charitable trust dedicated to supporting arts activity.

With their help, Folkestone is shaping its future by encouraging creative businesses to set up in the town: anyone from film-makers and florists to ceramicists and street artists.

Our students have a lively culture to enjoy, learn from and work in. The Quarterhouse theatre| is right next door; there are lots of cafes, bars and restaurants springing up all over the town and, of course, being by the sea also makes Folkestone something a little bit special.

World-class culture

"I've really enjoyed my first year at My University and look forward to coming back for my second. Folkestone is being regenerated and it’s great walking about and seeing all the stuff that is going on around. The Dance Education programme is fantastic and one of a kind."

The Triennial Sculpture Festival in 2011| brings even more exciting opportunities for our students. When you visit us, don't forget to look around the town and look for Tracey Emin's 'Baby Things' sculptures or Turner prize winner Mark Wallinger's 'Folk Stones', two of eight permanent commissions from the 2008 Triennial. As one of our students, the next Triennial in 2011 could inspire your creativity.

Canterbury Christ Church University

Canterbury Christ Church University, our parent university, is also principal partner to the Canterbury Festival; an annual arts festival that brings international artists to the region. Opportunities here are growing rapidly, and the opening of the new St Gregory's Centre for Music in Canterbury in 2012 will add loads of potential to get involved with national and international events.

What can we offer you?

A wide range of full-time and part-time programmes and short courses are available. Links with local businesses are excellent; we work closely with local employers and creative businesses to create a vibrant environment in which our students can live and study.
