About University Centre Folkestone

Who are we?

We are a satellite campus of two universities with a record of excellence: Canterbury Christ Church University and the University of Greenwich.

Our home – a beautifully-refurbished former Glassworks – was purchased by the Creative Foundation, a charitable trust dedicated to making the town a thriving centre of arts activity in the South-East. Folkestone is now an exciting place to be, with many creative artists choosing to re-locate here and a burgeoning programme of year-round arts activity filling the town’s streets and theatres.

We live right in the heart of the Creative Quarter – the main area of regeneration.  There’s an exciting mix of creative businesses here, on our doorstep - from
film-makers to florists, ceramicists to street theatre - giving students a lively culture to enjoy and a rich artistic resource to learn from.

Where did we come from?

We're an exciting partnership between the University of Greenwich and Canterbury Christ Church University. University Centre Folkestone is a vital strand in the regeneration of the town, offering Higher Education close to home for the population here.

What can we offer?

A wide range of full-time and part-time programmes and short courses are available. Subjects include Performing and Visual Arts, a range of business and IT programmes, and educational courses specialising in Childhood Studies and Early Years education. Links with local businesses are excellent; we work closely with local employers and creative businesses to create a vibrant environment in which our students can live and study.
