This new series of Public Lectures at UCF all have the broad theme of Creativity and Communication to reflect the significance of UCF’s role in the heart of Folkestone’s arts regeneration.

From Pharoahs to Vampires – exploring the world’s oldest dance form
Angela Wooi
Egyptian and Gothic belly dancer, performer, teacher and choreographer

In this unique lecture, performer and teacher Angela Wooi will explore the diversity and evolution of Middle Eastern dance from its ancient origins to contemporary fusion, from Pharonic times through the dusty streets of Cairo and the Khan al Khalili via Transylvania. Angela discusses the use of theatre, drama and narrative in dance, the emergence of Gothic and asks the question - what is to become of the world’s oldest dance form?
